Counter PacMan offers a wide range of gameplay choices to gamers. On a solo device or online in multiplayer mode, players can start on a classic adventure as Pac-Man, swap to the ghostly side and play as one of the characters, or confront a friend in an exciting one-on-one duel. The game's design aims include analyzing players' experiences using various constructs from the Player Experience Inventory (PXI), a tool used to quantify player experience across ten dimensions such as meaning, mastery, autonomy, and immersion. The think-aloud methodology and a post-survey called the short Player Experience Inventory will be used to collect qualitative and quantitative data about the game (mPXI). The collected data will be evaluated to see if there is a substantial difference in player experience while playing as an antagonist vs a protagonist. The game design may also be modified based on the analysis results. The game's purpose is to present players with a unique and captivating experience by allowing them to explore the maze through the perspective of the Ghost.
Counter PacMan's design goal is to deliver an immersive player experience by allowing the player to observe the game world through the eyes of the opponent, the Ghost. This includes assessing and quantifying the player's experience using the Player Experience Inventory (PXI), which is based on ten characteristics such as meaning, mastery, autonomy, and immersion. The game design will be tweaked in response to the results of a post-survey that employs the mini Player Experience Inventory (mPXI) and a Likert scale. The study will look into whether playing the game as the protagonist or antagonist has a different effect on the player's experience, as well as whether there is a substantial difference between the 10 PXI structures. The final goal is to build a maze-action game that engages and challenges the player.
